Replenish quickly
and the goods move by air or courier. Stock lands in days, your shelves stay filled through a promotion or a launch, and the logistics cost per unit is high.
Getting product from your supplier’s factory onto shelves in Malaysia is not one job. It is collection, consolidation, ocean freight, permits, customs, delivery into your distribution centre, and onward to every outlet. ADS runs the whole chain as one accountable service, so you are not managing five vendors and hoping the handovers work.

Most retail inbound programmes do not fail at sea. They fail in the gaps: the permit application that was started when the container was already at Port Klang, the HS code that turned out to be wrong after the duty was budgeted, the deconsolidation that took four days longer than planned, or the domestic transporter who was never briefed on the delivery window at your distribution centre.
Every one of those gaps sits between two suppliers, and every one of them lands on your team to resolve.
ADS closes the gaps by owning the whole chain — origin collection, ocean freight, approvals, customs and domestic delivery — under one account, one plan and one point of contact.
We collect from your manufacturer’s or supplier’s warehouse, wherever your production sits. You do not need your supplier to arrange freight, and you do not need to buy on their terms if those terms do not suit you.
LCL consolidation when your volume does not fill a container. FCL when it does. We work out which is genuinely cheaper for the cargo you have — not the one that suits us — and we tell you the crossover point so you know when your growth changes the answer.
HS classification, an estimated duty and tax position, and any approvals your product needs from Suruhanjaya Tenaga, SIRIM, MCMC or KPDN. We identify what applies and manage the application through the specialist consultants tied to each agency, starting before departure rather than on arrival. Late approvals are the single biggest cause of avoidable demurrage and storage charges in retail inbound, and they are entirely preventable.
Consolidation through one of the world’s leading sea freight consolidators, with scheduled sailings and direct trade lanes rather than whatever space happens to be available that week. As a general guide, sea transit runs 14 to 45 days depending on the lane, the vessel and the shipping line; we confirm the actual transit for your sailing at booking.
Declaration, duty and tax settlement, and release. Because classification and approvals were handled before departure, clearance is an administrative step rather than a negotiation.
Where a consignment has to carry SIRIM or MCMC marking, we apply it after clearance and before delivery, at our own 10,000 sq ft operating and handling facility. Your goods reach your distribution centre ready to sell rather than cleared but unsaleable.
Scheduled to your receiving windows, with the paperwork your warehouse team needs to book the goods in cleanly.
Delivery from your distribution centre to your retail outlets nationwide, on the frequency your replenishment cycle needs. East Malaysia is quoted separately — see the East Malaysia section, because the answer there is a genuine trade-off rather than a line item.
Freight, handling, clearance, duty, tax, approvals and delivery — worked out up front so you can price your product and protect your margin. Surcharges, exchange rates and customs valuation can move between quote and arrival, so a landed cost is always an estimate; we tell you which elements can shift rather than letting you discover it on the invoice.
We identify what your product needs at quotation stage. Cargo clears on schedule instead of accruing storage while an application is processed.
Origin collection, freight, customs and domestic delivery sit with one provider. When something moves, one team adjusts the whole chain instead of four suppliers each adjusting their own piece.
Our consultants know how retail cargo behaves — how it classifies, what approvals it triggers, how it should be packed for consolidation, and what your receiving windows demand — so you are not re-explaining your programme every season.
ADS covers up to 200 countries and territories across express, air and sea, and is a member of WCA World, the global network of independent freight forwarders, which gives us vetted partners on the ground at origin.
We deliver into Sabah and Sarawak, and we quote it separately from the peninsular programme. How the final leg runs varies by destination — some of it we handle directly, some through transport we appoint and manage — and we confirm that for your programme rather than describing a single model that would not be true everywhere. What does not vary is who holds the account and the schedule.
Quoting it separately is not a hedge. Moving goods across to East Malaysia carries a real transfer cost, and pricing it into a flat nationwide rate would mean one of two things: peninsular customers subsidising East Malaysian volume, or an East Malaysian quote padded against a cycle we have not seen yet. Neither is honest.
East Malaysian replenishment is a choice between money and empty shelves, and the choice is yours to make.
and the goods move by air or courier. Stock lands in days, your shelves stay filled through a promotion or a launch, and the logistics cost per unit is high.
and the goods move by sea. The cost per unit drops substantially — and your shelves can run empty while the vessel is still in transit. A stockout in an outlet you replenish six times a year costs more than the freight you saved, and the same maths run the other way for a slow-moving line.
There is no general right answer, which is exactly why we do not publish a rate. It depends on how fast the line sells in East Malaysia, how much you are willing to hold at the outlet, and what a stockout actually costs you in that channel.
We ask two questions and work back from them:
From those two we build the costing and the transit time together, so you can see the cost of each option against the availability it buys you — rather than picking a mode first and discovering the consequence a season later. If the cycle and the volume make sea the obvious answer, we will tell you so, including when that means holding more stock at the outlet.
ADS runs inbound retail programmes for consumer brands selling through Malaysia’s major consumer electronics and lifestyle retail chains. Product we clear and deliver reaches more than 70 shopping mall locations across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak — including East Malaysia, where a lot of inbound programmes stop at the Straits and hand the problem back to the brand.
A typical programme runs like this: collection from the brand’s manufacturer warehouses at origin, consolidation into LCL or full containers depending on the season’s volume, ocean freight into Malaysia, customs clearance with approvals already secured, delivery into the retailer’s distribution centre, and onward distribution to outlets nationwide.
The model moves cargo into the customer’s or retailer’s distribution centre and handles only short-term transit requirements around clearance and delivery scheduling.
The transfer cost and the right mode depend on replenishment frequency and volume rather than a flat nationwide rate.
Carrier surcharges, exchange rates and customs valuation can move between quotation and arrival. ADS identifies which elements can shift.
ADS identifies requirements and manages applications through the relevant consultants; it does not perform certification.
Yes. We arrange collection from your manufacturer’s or supplier’s warehouse at origin, so you are not dependent on your supplier arranging freight or on buying under their preferred Incoterm.
It depends on your volume per shipment and how often you replenish. LCL is usually cheaper below roughly a container’s worth of cargo, but consolidation adds handling time. We work out the crossover for your actual volumes and tell you when your growth changes the answer.
We identify which approvals apply at quotation stage — before your cargo ships — and manage the application through the specialist consultants tied to each agency: Suruhanjaya Tenaga, SIRIM, MCMC and KPDN. Where a certificate must be issued to the importer rather than to us, we assemble and run the application and it issues in your name.
Yes, and we quote it separately from the peninsular programme. Moving goods across carries a real transfer cost, and what it costs depends on how fast you replenish: air or courier for speed and a higher cost per unit, sea for a much lower cost per unit and a longer wait during which shelves can run empty. Tell us how often you replenish East Malaysia and how much moves each time, and we will cost both options against the transit time so you can choose with the trade-off in front of you.
Our model is to move your cargo into your distribution centre or your retailer’s, not to hold your stock. We handle the short-term transit requirements around clearance and delivery scheduling.
Yes. Programmes commonly split across multiple receiving points, including deliveries direct to a retailer’s own distribution centre.
Sea transit is typically 14 to 45 days depending on lane, vessel and shipping line, with collection, clearance and domestic delivery on either side. We give you a working timeline for your specific lane and volumes, and confirm actual transit at booking.
No. We work with SME importers and large retail programmes alike.
Send us your product, your origin, your volumes and where it needs to land. We will come back with an estimated landed cost, the approvals your product will need, and a timeline you can plan a season around.
