Logistics solutions for businesses importing and exporting through Malaysia

Most logistics providers quote you a rate. We work out what your shipment actually needs — the right mode, the right documents, the right approvals — before it moves. So your cargo clears, your costs are predictable, and your shelves stay full.

Shipping is rarely the hard part

For most businesses, the freight itself is the simplest step. What costs you money is everything around it — a permit that was not applied for until the container landed, a duty rate nobody checked before the order was placed, a shipment sitting at the port because one document was wrong, or an urgent order sent by express because there was no plan to send it any other way.

ADS is built around those problems. Since 2009, we have been moving cargo for businesses importing into and exporting from Malaysia — as a freight forwarder, a customs consultant, an approvals agent, and where it makes sense, as the importer of record who takes the whole burden off your books.

The five solutions

Import and distribute on your behalf

You are
an overseas brand or a distributor who needs product in the Malaysian market without setting up the import infrastructure to do it.
We handle
acting as importer of record — importing in our own name, clearing customs, holding the product approvals we are licensed to hold, and distributing to your appointed retailers. We also support distributors who prefer to import themselves and just need the logistics executed properly.
You get
market access without a Malaysian import entity, and a partner who carries the regulatory weight.

Approvals and permits before your cargo lands

You are
importing goods that need approval before they can enter — electrical products, communications equipment, toys, controlled or certified goods.
We handle
working out which approvals your product actually needs, then applying to Suruhanjaya Tenaga, SIRIM, MCMC or KPDN — started before your cargo sails, not after it arrives.
You get
cargo that clears on schedule instead of accruing storage charges while an application is processed.

Exporting to the United States

You are
selling into the US — on a marketplace, to a distributor, or direct — and the rules changed underneath you.
We handle
what your product needs at the US end before it leaves Malaysia. The current tariff position on your goods, FDA and CPSC requirements, the documentation your US importer and broker actually need, and the freight itself.
You get
shipments that enter cleanly under a regime that has changed twice this year, and a landed cost you can price against.

Optimising shipping costs

You are
sending repeat, predictable, heavy shipments by international express because that is how it has always been done.
We handle
a review of your lanes, weights and frequency, then a mode mix — express for what is genuinely urgent, air freight for planned volume, sea freight for bulk and replenishment.
You get
a materially lower shipping bill on the volume that never needed to travel at express speed, without slowing down the orders that do.

What you get that a rate quote does not include

  • We hold product approvals in our own name.

Energy Commission Certificates of Approval for mains-powered electrical equipment — held for over ten years for an international brand's products — and MCMC Compliance Approvals for products that transmit. A mains-powered wireless product needs both, and that is the case we already run. Most forwarders arrange approvals. We hold them.

  • Advice before the shipment, not after the problem.

We tell you what documents you need, what duty and tax to expect, and what approvals apply — before you commit to an order. Most forwarders find out with you.

  • Every mode under one account.

Express, air freight, sea freight LCL and FCL, customs, permits and last-mile delivery. You are not stitching four vendors together and arbitrating between them when something goes wrong.

  • A global network behind a local team.

Through the express carrier networks we work with, ADS reaches up to 200 countries and territories. Our sea freight runs through multiple shipping lines, NVOCCs and one of the world's leading consolidators; our air freight through multiple airlines and consolidators — which is what lets us find space and a workable rate on a lane where a single-carrier forwarder cannot. We are also a member of WCA World, the global network of independent freight forwarders.

  • Sales consultants who understand what you ship.

Not a queue and not a ticket number. Our consultants know how your cargo behaves — how it classifies, what approvals it triggers, how it should be packed and which lane suits it.

How an ADS engagement starts

  1. Tell us what you are moving.

Product, origin, destination, volume, and how often. If you do not know your volumes yet, tell us the business you are trying to build.

  2. We check what it needs.

HS classification, duty and tax exposure, which approval regimes your product touches — and which of them we can act in and which we cannot — and which Incoterm suits your commercial position.

  3. We propose the mode mix.

Not the fastest, not the cheapest — the one that fits your margin, your lead times and your cash flow.

  4. We give you an estimated landed cost, not just a freight rate.

Freight, handling, clearance, duty, tax, approvals and delivery, worked out up front. A landed cost is always an estimate — carrier surcharges, exchange rates and customs valuation can all shift between quotation and arrival — but the variance is usually small, and we tell you which elements can move before you commit rather than after you are invoiced.

  5. We run it, and you have one team to call.

FAQ

Do I need to be a large importer to work with ADS?

No. There is no minimum volume. Most of our customers are SME importers, exporters, manufacturers and retail chains.

Can you handle my shipment if the product needs government approval?

For electrical equipment, communications equipment, SIRIM certification and the KPDN MC mark for toys and batteries — yes. We identify what is required before your cargo ships rather than after it arrives, and we hold Energy Commission and MCMC approvals in our own name for products we import as importer of record.

Are there approvals you do not handle?

Yes, and we would rather tell you now. Medical devices and pharmaceutical or health products require licences ADS does not hold — an MDA establishment licence, and a licence under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984. We cannot be your importer for those products and we cannot hold the registration.

But we can still move them. Where you, your distributor or your appointed representative holds the licence or the notification, we handle the freight, the customs clearance and the delivery — for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, health supplements and cosmetics alike. Movement and clearance only: we do not store medical devices.

Can ADS import on my behalf if my company has no Malaysian entity?

Yes. We act as importer of record for brands entering the Malaysian market, importing and distributing to your appointed retailers. There is no minimum volume.

Do you handle both LCL and full container shipments?

Yes — LCL consolidation and FCL where your volume justifies a full container. We will tell you which is cheaper for the volume you actually have. In our experience the crossover commonly falls somewhere between 12 and 18 CBM.

How long does sea freight take?

It depends on the lane, the vessel and the shipping line. As a general guide, 14 to 45 days. We give you the actual transit for your lane and sailing at booking.

Where do you ship to?

Malaysia's principal trading markets, in both directions, across express, air and sea. Our established sea and air lanes inbound are China and Hong Kong; outbound, the United States, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Taiwan. If your lane is not one of those, ask — we book through multiple carriers, lines and consolidators rather than one relationship.

Do you still handle express and courier shipments?

Yes. Express remains part of what we do, managed across major carriers with account management and consolidated billing — including a customer portal where you create shipments, track them, pull shipping reports and view invoices. For many customers express works best as one part of a mix rather than the default for everything.

Can you arrange cargo insurance?

Yes. Worth knowing why you might want it: a carrier's liability, on a bill of lading or an air waybill, is limited by international convention and calculated on weight rather than on the value of your goods. That is not insurance. We can arrange cover with your booking.
